Kathy Cmaylo
Katherine Lapointe Cmaylo is an American painter exploring her enduring fascination with nature. Working with a number of different mediums including watercolor, oil, acrylic and cold wax, Cmaylo's process is one of constant experimentation and discovery. Her vision comes to life in both abstract and realistic styles.
Growing up in Maine, Cmaylo's earliest memories are of exploring the fields, woods, and ledges of Orrs Island in Casco Bay while developing a love of nature that has deepened during her adult years. Nature has become both a source of inspiration for and a theme that runs throughout her life's work and passions.
In addition to painting, Cmaylo has had a long and distinguished career as a primary school teacher and tutor during which she facilitated authentic outdoor learning experiences by collaborating with the local conservation trust to help young people develop the skills to respond to nature through art and writing.
Katherine Lapointe Cmaylo lives and works in Kennebunkport, Maine.
